Chillout Dinjoe earns some down time with close victory at Hove
There is an old adage that states that every dog has his day. At the Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound stadium in Brighton, every dog has a legitimate chance of winning each of the 450m
races, and many of them often do so in fine fashion.
Chillout Dinjoe (3-1) was one of those dogs. After a bounding start from trap four, he led third en route to a terrific finish of 27.72 seconds. The second-place finisher was Posted Abroad
(3-1), who went wide from the start, but ran on to finish the race in 27.86, which was 1¾ lengths behind Chillout Dinjoe
Geneva Robbie (3-1) began with an early pace from trap two, and soon led. However, he crowded at third, losing 5¾ lengths in the process. Despite that, he bounced back to place third in
28.32. Finshing just a neck’s length out of the top three was Maribel Lad (5-1), who impeded third after holding an early pace. He completed the race in 28.34.
Fifth place belonged to Ballymac Said (5-1), who is one of many members of the storied Ballymac pedigree of greyhound racing. He impeded third, but was only a shoulder’s length out of
fourth place in 28.35. Quarrymount Sue, the 5-2 favourite, failed to deliver, and ended up in last place. She crowded first and was forced to check third, resulting in a 28.65 finish that was 3¾ lengths behind Ballymac Said.
Later on, Pretty Fancy looked great as the winner of the A3 race. A great start from trap four allowed her to lead third, and she later drew clear to claim the top spot in 27.30. Both
Pretty Fancy and Bodens Bridge, who placed second, were the 3-1 joint favourites in this race. During the race, Bodens Bridge moved slowly away from the pack, and was forced to check first. However, she finished well in 27.70, which was 5 lengths behind the
winner.
Ruddy Rocket (7-2) raced to a third-place result from trap two, running on to finish a shoulder’s length out of second place. He matched the second-place time of 27.70. Fourth place was
claimed by Dysert Damsel (6-1), who held an early pace. She went on to finish in 27.82, 1½ lengths out of the top three.
Spice Please (5-1) moved very slowly away from the pack, and ended up in fifth place with a time of 28.04. He was 2¾ lengths behind fourth place. Finally, Geneva Stripe (5-1) took sixth
place despite leading to third. His time of 28.10 placed him ¾ lengths out of the fifth position.
The greyhound racing action at Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium is set to resume on Saturday, 23 October. The first race of the evening gets under way at 19:30.
