Chin Eei h*i sad over missing spot in London Olympics – Badminton Update
Women’s Doubles expert Chin Eei h*i of Malaysia is feeling blue after failing to secure a spot in London Olympics and she admitted that she is thinking of hanging up her racket in a couple of weeks.
Eei h*i joined hands with Wong Pei Tty and the duo slid down five spots in recently published world ranking which ultimately kicked them out from the Olympic qualification race.
World Number 21 pair Eei h*i-Pei Tty was struggling to elevate their status but could not hit the mark owing to their below par performance in the recent past.
The 29-year-old member of duo Eei h*i expressed her sadness but she was honest enough to admit that long streak of failures buried their prospects in mega event.
She said, "A string of poor results at the end of last year made our situation difficult and the last straw was Kyung Eun-Ha Na beating Bao Yixin-Zhong Qianxin (of China) in the India Open final."
Earlier in India Open, the Malaysian ladies crashed out of the event in preliminary rounds which cost them an Olympic seat as the Korean duo Jung Kyung Eun-Kim Ha Na seized the crown and secured second berth for the country in London Games.
Now, Pei Tty and Eei h*i are first reserve duo and if any of top 16 teams pulls out of the Olympics they will automatically earn a permit to race for glory.
However, Eei h*i is not much confident and stated that they stand a low chance to qualify as every team has sweat hard to earn this honour and no one will fritter away their efforts.
She said, "There is a very slim chance as the first reserve but everyone wants to play in the Olympics and I don't see any pair withdrawing."
She also unveiled that they may call it a day in near future but she added that they will have detailed meeting with Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) before making any final decision.
Eei h*i said, "We will make a decision after speaking to BAM whether to continue playing or retiring from the international scene next week. We want to focus on the Malaysia Open GP gold first."
Meanwhile, Malaysia has confirmed spots in Men’s Singles and Doubles and Mixed Doubles event where Lee Chong Wei, the duo Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and the pair of Chan Peng and Goh Liu Ying will represent the country respectively.
