China's Wang Lin, Chen Jin fail to book their places in national team for Sudirman Cup
China’s Women’s Singles ruling world champion Wang Lin and Men’s Singles current world champion Chen Jin failed to book their places in the national team for the upcoming Sudirman Cup.
The Sudirman Cup is the biggest mixed team event in the world of Badminton, which will take place in Qingdao, China, from May 22 – 29, 2011.
Lin is dropped from the team as she is recovering from her ligament treatment she had in September 2010. She is working hard to regain her fitness to compete at the international level. In her absence from the Sudirman Cup in the Women’s Singles category,
Wang Shixian, Wang Yihan and Wang Xin will raise the flag for China.
The Men’s Singles world champion, Chen Jin, is suffering with a bad patch in his career as he failed to perform well for the last six months. His poor performance in many tournaments also affected his world ranking. From the Chinese squad, Lin Dan, Chen
Long and Bao Chunlai will fight in the category of Men’s Singles.
The head coach of China Li Yongbo said that Lin Dan, who is the ruling world champion, will participate in all matches to find his best momentum for the upcoming major events including World Badminton Championships.
“We have not failed to defend the Sudirman Cup in the last three editions of the championships,” Yongbo said. “But we faced tremendous difficulties in every match and basically 50% of the matches that we won were very close.”
While talking about the chances of China in the Sudirman Cup, the coach said, “We will have to be well prepared in the face of adversity, especially when playing against strong teams like Indonesia and Malaysia. We must prepare to the fullest.”
In the Men’s Doubles, Fu Haifeng – Cai Yun and Chai Biao – Guo Zhendong, whereas in the category of Women’s Doubles, Wang Xiaoli – Yu Yan and Tian Qing – Zhao Yunlei remained successful in booking their places in the national team. China’s Ma Jin – Xu Chen
will shine in the Sudirman Cup in the category of Mixed Doubles.
