China Masters 2012: Sapsiree Taerattanachai ousts Minatsu Mitani in Women’s Singles quarter-final
Sapsiree Taerattanachai, one of the most dedicated shuttlers from Thailand, showed her elevated class and reached into Women’s Singles semi-final after beating her higher ranked challenger Minatsu Mitani of Japan in quarter-final battle at the Li Ning China
Masters 2012 in China, on Saturday, September 14.
Sapsiree, who is World Number 34 and an un-seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played remarkable badminton and overpowered Minatsu in a crushing fashion by taking just 36 minutes.
The impressive Thai shuttler was in tremendous form as she played aggressive badminton and ended the winning run of Minatsu who has been positioned at number 28 in Women’s Singles world ranking.
It was an absolutely superb put up by Sapsiree who showed aggression and precision on court and remained successful in beating her higher ranked rival in straight sets with a spectacular margin on the score board.
On the other hand, the Japanese shuttler failed to put up strong show as she lost her focus and also remained unable to create pressure on her in-form rival. She went down without proving her worth in a one-sided fashion.
In the first game, Sapsiree played with control in her shots and remained successful in building up a wonderful lead on score board until the mid-game break.
After taking rest for one minute, the Thai shuttler continued her positive run without slowing down her speed. She kept the rallies fast without showing any mercy to her rival and remained successful in taking the opening game with a huge 21-13 score on
the board.
In the following set, Sapsiree remained consistent in her killing performance by controlling the pace of rallies and managed a reasonable lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Thai shuttler continued putting up superb show as she did not lose her focus and also maintained her speed on court. She remained successful in finishing up the second set in a spectacular way with a stunning margin of 21-13.
Sapsiree emerged as the winner in this straight-set contest in a remarkable fashion with a 21-13 and 21-13 score on the board.
