China Masters Super Series: Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung destroy China’s hope of clean sweep
Korea’s World Number Two pair of Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung destroyed China’s hope of winning all five titles in the China Masters Super Series, as the Koreans crushed the top seeded Chinese pair of Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun in the Men’s Doubles final.
Chinese shuttlers dominated the whole event and won four titles in different categories of the game including Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
In three finals, Chinese shuttlers played against their compatriots, whereas, Korean players made it to the finals of the Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories. The Chinese emerged as the winners in the Mixed Doubles clash, while the Koreans grabbed
the Men’s Doubles title.
The Koreans always display tremendous performances by playing top-class badminton when it comes to Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. In the final battle of China Masters, Yong Dae and Jae Sung delivered an impressive performance against the local heroes
and World Number One pair of Haifeng and Yun.
After winning the match against the top seeds, a happy Jae Jung said, “We started our preparation for the match in the early morning and our defence during the match was good.”
The Chinese players were clearly lacking the form which helped them win the title at the 2011 World Championships, held in London. They lost to the spirited Koreans without even taking the game to the third set.
After losing the match Yun said, “Our training is not systematic after the worlds. To be honest, we didn't imagine that we could enter final before the tournament.”
At the previous edition of China Masters in 2010, Chinese shuttlers made a clean sweep as they clinched all five titles. This time, hopes of China to repeat history went in smoke when Korean shuttlers dented the celebrations of China’s team by beating the
local heroes. Now, Yong Dae and Jae Sung will participate in the Japan Open Super Series, which will kick-off in Tokyo from tomorrow, on September 20.
