China Open 2010-Breaking News: Novak Djokovic storms into the Semi-Final
The second ranked Serbian, Novak Djokovic once again did well to get the better of Gilles Simon as he registered his fifth successive win over the Frenchman in a total of two sets at the 2010 China Open on Friday. The final match score was 6-3, 6-2. Djokovic,
as a result of this victory, has reached the semi-final round in Beijing.
The Serbian prevented all the seven break point chances that he faced in his today’s match at the ATP World Tour 500 hard surface tennis championship. The clash concluded in eighty-four minutes as Djokovic capitalized on three of the seven break point opportunities
to dismiss this season’s Open de Moselle champion for a spot in his seventh final four of the year.
Djokovic served quite well right from the start and looked even more confident and aggressive as the match progressed. "As soon as I grabbed the opening set, I kind of improved the level of my game even a step further,” said the last month’s United States
Open finalist after the match.
He looked satisfied with the way he served against Gilles. "I served out well when it was required, which is a very positive thing for me. It does not happen too often. So I am very happy that my serve is getting better and better, and hopefully I am going
to use it more,” added the world number two.
The twenty three year old Novak is currently attempting to capture his second ATP World Tour crown of the year, to add to his victory in Delhi, where he got the better of Mikhail Youzhny and also secured some important points in the quest to successfully
qualify for the next month’s year ending Barclays Championship in London.
The Serbian is on the cusp of gaining one of the six remaining spots in the eight players' Barclays event, having started the week at world number three. The top seed Novak Djokovic, as a result of his today’s victory, will next take on the winner of the
match between John Isner and Nikolay Davydenko.
