China Open Premier Super Series, Xue Yao slays Tine Baun in the Women’s Singles pre-quarter-final
In the pre-quarter-final battle of China Open Premier Super Series, Xue Yao of China delivered a stunning performance as she sent Denmark’s Tine Baun packing on Thursday, November 24, in Shanghai China.
The un-seeded Xue proved her mettle in front of a huge home crowd and won the match against the experienced Baun, who is currently placed at number 43 in the Women’s Singles world rankings. The Chinese showed her class by playing with aggression and took
the match in three games by taking 43 minutes in the court.
In the first game, the Chinese played with precision and cheered the crowd by bagging it with a wonderful margin. However, in the following game, it was Danish shuttler who played better badminton and won the set with a similar margin. In the final set,
Xue spared no chance for the Danish and took the game with a superb score.
Right from the starting points, the confidence of the Chinese was quite impressive as she took no pressure of her higher ranked and experienced opponent. Throughout the opening game, the Chinese dictated the pace of the rallies by making her rival moving
around in every corner of the court. Xue got advantaged in the match by taking the opening set with a convincing margin of 21-14.
In the second game, Baun changed his style of play and became aggressive in the front-court area. Her control over the bird was impressive. She remained ahead of the Chinese opponent in the whole game by playing flawless badminton. Xue executed wrong strokes
which caused her loss in the second game with a 14-21 score.
The final set of this Women’s Singles thrilling fight was completely on-sided. The Chinese displayed an incredible show of flawless badminton and moved forward in the game without facing any considerable resistance from her challenger.
Baun failed to tackle the aggressive strokes and wonderful speed of her Chinese opponent. Xue took the final set with a striking margin of 21-11. The 43-minut pre-quarter-final contest ended up with a 21-14, 14-21 and 21-11 score on the board.
In the quarter-final, Xue will face the team-mate and World Number Three Wang Xin, who crushed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand in the round-of-16.
