China Open Premier Super Series: Lin Dan continues his winning streak over Lee Chong Wei
China’s Lin Dan continues his supremacy over the World Number One, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia by beating him in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series, in China, on Saturday, November 26.
The World Number Two, Lin played with superb confidence against Chong Wei and again ended the road of the Malaysian by winning the semi-final contest in three games. He lost the opening set but bounced back to grab the both following games in style.
The first game started in an enthralling way as both legends put up tremendous show highest class badminton by playing attacking and positive game. Both remained equal until 4-4 when Chong Wei started to build lead by accelerating his speed. At the one-minute break, the Malaysian was four-points ahead of the Chinese at 11-7.
After the break, Lin raised his level of play and put up tremendous show of wonderful smashes coupled with net killings and levelled the score at 13-13. Both players continued progressing in the similar way and reached at 16-16. Lin was leading the opening set in the ending points by reaching at 19-17 but failed to take the winning points as the Malaysian played aggressive and positive game. The Chinese lost the set with a margin of 21-19.
Stung by the loss of first game in front of the home crowd, Lin fired back in the second game with completely different things in mind. Right from the start of the second game, Lin remained ahead of his opponent and continued his roller coaster run in the whole set. Chong Wei failed to level the score even for a single time throughout the second game. The Chinese took the second game with an inspiring margin of 21-12.
The start of deciding game was thrilling when both shuttlers remained equal until 4-4. At this stage the Chinese scored five consecutive points to take a lead of 9-4. Chong Wei visibly dropped down his speed and lost his focus against the firing Chinese. Lin took a superb lead in the opening half by reaching at 11-5.
He continued his domination after the break and finished the final set with a 21-11 margin on the score board. Lin won the match with a margin of 19-21, 21-12 and 21-11.
In the final showdown, Lin will take on his team-mate Chen Long, who crushed Indonesia’s Simon Santoso in the other semi-final battle.
