China Open Premier Super Series: Lin Dan wins Men’s Singles title to stretch his winning streak
China’s most stylish shuttler and ruling World and Olympic Champion, Lin Dan continues his peerless performance as he has bagged the Men’s Singles titles after defeating his team-mate Chen Long in the title match of the 2011 China Open Premier Super Series,
on Sunday, November 27, in Shanghai, China.
It was the second consecutive title for the Chinese as he also won the crown in last week’s Hong Kong Open Super Series, in Hong Kong by beating his compatriot Chen Jin in the final contest.
It seems that the World Number Two, Lin does not have any injury that has been troubling him earlier this year because he played with his usual fast speed in the court. His impressive performance in the recent events has brought him back on the right track
on the right time as Olympic Games are just nine months away.
In the final of the China Open, Lin played with precision against the in-form Long and won the opening game with a reasonable difference. But the second set was absolutely thrilling for the home crowd as both shuttlers played aggressive badminton throughout
the game by remaining equal. However, Lin remained successful in scoring the winning points in the end and took the match.
In the opening rallies of the first game, both players put up terrific show by playing positive game. Nevertheless, Lin accelerated his speed at the net and troubled his younger opponent who failed to match the speed of his experienced opponent. Until the
break in the opening game, Lin was ahead at 11-8.
After the break, Lin played superb game and remained ahead of Long, who failed to level the score at any stage of the set. Lin won the opening set with a decent score of 21-17.
In the second game of this title match, both elite shuttlers employed every skill to dominate the game but failed as the score remained close until 14-14. At this stage, Lin became furious as he executed powerful jumping smashes followed by net killings
and reached at a comfortable position of 19-14. But Long showed his fighting spirit and levelled the score by reaching at 20-20.
The score remained tight until 24-24 when Lin remained successful in taking the ending points with his positive play and won the set with a 26-24 margin. He won the match in straight sets of 47 minutes with a 21-17 and 26-24 score on the board.
