China Open Premier Super Series: Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen claim Men’s Doubles title
Denmark’s Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen are in tremendous form as they have claimed the Men’s Doubles title after beating Korea’s Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong in the final of the 2011 Li Ning China Open Premier Super Series, in Shanghai, China, on
Sunday, November 27.
Boe and Mogensen, who are currently World Number Three in the Men’s Doubles world standings, put up stunning show of remarkable badminton and won the battle in straight games against the World Number Four Sung Hyun and Yeon Seong. Danish shuttlers were flawless
in the court and finished up the final contest in 42 minutes.
In the opening set, both sides remained close in the opening half but the Danes played better in the concluding phase and took the set with a decent difference. In the second game, the Koreans failed to resist against the aggression of their Danish challengers
and lost the set with a big margin.
The match started in a wonderful fashion when both sides remained close by playing at the same pace. However, throughout the opening game, the Danish duo remained slightly ahead of their Korean rivals, who failed to level the score even for a single time
in the whole contest.
The Koreans failed to find a good flow as their opponent spared no chance for them to dominate the game at any stage in the whole set. The third seeded Danes played flawless badminton in the whole opening set by employing attacking strokes and net killings
and won the first set with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.
In the second set of this final match, the Koreans played better game in the initial points and also remained successful in building up a small lead of 4-1. Nevertheless, the Danish duo levelled the score by playing aggressive game.
The Danes dominated the net area and also executed powerful jumping smashes to maintain pressure on their opponents in the whole set and finished it with a superb margin of 21-13.
Boe and Mogensen emerged as the winners of the final contest by putting a 21-17 and 21-13 score on the board.
