China Open Premier Super Series: Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen enter into Men’s Doubles final
Denmark’s top seeded shuttler, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen have reserved their berth in the Men’s Doubles final after beating Korea’s Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae in the semi-final of the 2011 Li Ning China Open Premier Super Series, on Saturday,
November 26, in Shanghai.
The World Number Three Boe and Mogensen put up wonderful sow of quality badminton and won the match against the World Number Two Jae Sung and Yong Dae in three games after working hard for 81 minutes.
The score remained tight until the 60-second break in the opening half of the set. After the break, they again remained close by keeping the speed at the maximum level. The Koreans were relying on their powerful smashes while the Danish shuttlers were executing
superb defensive strokes coupled with powerful smashes. In the concluding points, the Danish players failed to play well and lost the game with a 19-21 score.
The start of the second game was thrilling when the Danish shuttlers took a small lead which was levelled by the Koreans at 5-5. However, the Koreans also remained close and two beautiful net kills of Yong Dae helped the Koreans to reach at 11-10 until the
break in the second set.
After the break, the Danish shuttlers played flawless game in the front-court area and reached at 13-11. They were quicker in taking high lifts and executed wonderful smashes to take the second game with a 23-21 score.
In the start of the deciding game, the Koreans set up an early lead of 5-1 but failed to maintain it as the Danish pair not only levelled the score but also manage a two-point gap by reaching at 11-9 at the end of the interval. The Danish shuttlers remained
ahead by playing fast from all areas of the court and reached at 18-15.
The Danish duo was leading by 20-18 when the Korean played well and levelled the score at 20-20. However, the Danish duo managed to score the ending points with their aggressive play and won the set with a 22-20 score on the board. The final score of this
81-minute match was 19-21, 23-21 and 22-20.
In the final contest, the Danish pair will take on another Korean pair of Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong.
