China Open Premier Super Series: Wang Xin hammers Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the round-of-16
China’s Wang Xin, who is in tremendous form, has surged into Women’s Singles quarter-final after thrashing Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the round-of-16 of the China Open Premier Super Series, on Thursday, November 24, in Shanghai, China.
The World Number Three Xin proved her superior skills against the lower ranked Porntip and bagged the match in straight games by consuming just 30 minutes in the court. She was perfect in her play as she faced no trouble in beating her opponent in style.
The Chinese had to dig deep to take the opening game of the match with a narrow score. However, she was everywhere in the court in the second set of the match and took it with a completely one-sided margin.
Porntip started the first set with aggressive approach as she score two consecutive points in the opening rallies of the game. However, the in-form Chinese started to gear up her speed to tackle the aggression of her Thai opponent. Both ladies remained close
until the interval, when the higher ranked Chinese was just ahead at 11-10.
After the break, she continued playing positive badminton and remained successful in extending her lead. She played with precision and kept Porntip under pressure. However, the Thai lady also employed her elite skills and levelled the score by reaching at
19-19. At this stage, Xin controlled the rallies and score two consecutive points to bag the opening set with a 21-19 score in 17 minutes.
In the following set of the match, the Chinese played authoritative game as she dictated the pace and made her opponent moving in all corners of the court. Porntip completely failed to resist against the Chinese, who was not sparing even a single chance
to the Thai rival.
Throughout the second set, Porntip could not level the score even for a single time. The impressive performance of Xin helped her to take the second set with an impressive score of 21-10 in just 13 minutes. The third seed Chinese took the match in straight
games with a 21-19 and 21-10 score in just 30 minutes.
In the Women’s Singles quarter-final, Xin will face either compatriot Xue Yao or Denmark’s Tine Baun.
