China beats Chinese Taipei in Pool E match of 16th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship
China had a match with Chinese Taipei on September 19 as part of the 16th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship that is currently taking place in Taipei. The venue of the competition was the Taiwan University Gymnasium which was populated by 400 spectators.
With the first round of the tournament successfully over, the two teams of Pool E met in the 1-8 classification round of the championship and China overwhelmed the Taipei team 3-0.
The match did not take long to finish as the Chinese were able to make a clean sweep over the host team of Chinese Taipei. Not only did China win the match in three back to back sets, they did so by dominating their rivals in all three frames. The Chinese
Taipei had a hard time in the first and the second sets of the match and was unable to step up their performance and let the sets slip out of their hands. Chinese Taipei was seen to put on a better show in the third set as the pressure of a sweep mounted but
they still could not avoid a Chinese win at the following final set scores: 25-15, 25-14 and 25-20.
The start of the first set of the game saw the Chinese take the lead early on but Taipei did not let their rivals get away with the advantage and took the lead for themselves at 5-4. However, the Chinese were determined and did not take long to catch up
to the Chinese Taipei team and overtook them with a lead of their own with the coming of the first technical time out at 8-5. Once they were in front, the Chinese did not relinquish their advantage to reach the second technical time out at 16-7. After the
two teams came back on to the courts, it was only a matter of time before the Chinese were able to seal the deal on the opening set at 25-15.
The second set was controlled by the Chinese as they were able to capitalise on the momentum generated by winning the first set of the game. China got the lead at 8-2 and stretched it to 19-9. Chinese Taipei was left in the lurch as China bagged the second
set at 25-14.
The third set remained close and even saw Chinese Taipei taking the lead at 13-12 but China was able to get back in the game and grab a win at 25-20.
The player that was able to lead all scorers was h*i Ruoqi, belonging to China. Ruoqi scored a total of 17 points and she was helped by Wang YI Meng as well as Ma Yun Wen both of whom contributed 11 points each. None of the Chinese Taipei players were able
to reach double figures. The top scorer in the Chinese Taipei team was Lin Chun Yi who tallied nine points in all.
