China enter into the final after beating Korea in the semi-final showdown of Sudirman Cup 2011
China has entered into the final after beating Korea in the semi-final of the Sudirman Cup 2011, in China, on Saturday, May 28.
The Chinese team defeated the Korean players by a convincing margin of 3-1.
Head coach of the Chinese team, Li Yongbo, was completely satisfied with the performance of his shuttlers against the Koreans. It was an equal fight as both nations have some best shuttlers in their teams. However, China proved that they are determined to
win their fourth consecutive Sudirman Cup title.
Yongbo said, “I told all the players that we do not need to fear failure, we do not need to fear other teams, they need to fear China. It is not us who should be afraid. We need to believe in ourselves and our teamwork.”
In the opening fight in the Mixed Doubles category, Xu Chen and Ma Jin of China managed to beat Ha Jung Eun and Ko Sung Hyun of Korea in a three-set fight by a tight difference of 21-23, 21-14 and 24-22.
In the following fight of the Men’s Singles, Lin Dan, the top seed in China, thrashed Park Sung Hwan in straight-sets with a one-sided margin of 21-16 and 21-10. The Chinese played flawless badminton against the Korean and earned a precious point for his
team.
In the Men’s Doubles battle, Korea’s Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung played superbly and were successful in winning a point for Korea by beating Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun of China.
In the Women’s Singles fight, Wang Shixian, who is currently World Number One, showed no mercy to her Korean opponent and won the match in a scintillating fashion.
After the match, Yongbo said, “Overall, this was a good match for the fans. You can see that we did very well, especially in the mixed doubles and men's doubles.”
In the final showdown of the Sudirman Cup, China will play against the winner of the Denmark and Indonesia clash. Both countries have top class shuttlers who can put up a wonderful show against the Chinese team.
