  1. Lets talk about this at the end of the Olympics the we still have all of next week to compete.

Oh I don't care if the US is in second. I just enjoy watching the games.

  2. Even if China was not a communist country, with compulsory sports training for promising children, their population base alone should make them a major power in the Olympics.

There is no shame in winning only one medal.  I would like to know the smallest (population) country that wins a medal. Does Vatican City have a team?  I know that Australia, with 21 million population, wins more medals per capita than most countries.  Similarly, there is no shame in striving and winning many medals, even if someone else wins more.

  3. I think it's too early to predict. At the end, the Chinese might have more gold medals, but the USA will probably have the most total.

  4. i still think the american team will end up with more medals. the athletics are still to come and americans dominate on the track. the chinese have only a couple track and field athletes that even have a chance to medal, so i wouldnt lose hope yet.

  5. How well do you think China will do in track and field!!!!

  6. so wat will win more when its track time

  7. It is not because of their supremacy going down.  Take a close look at the events the Chinese have won in.  They are all sports they have done well in since day one.  It is their strengths.  The US has done ok in the sports that are playing now but not the best.  The strengths for the US are still coming, one in particular track and field which they scored 26 medals in 2004.  That right there says much about the medal count.  We aren't even half way done.  Still much more do get done.  Although I must say that China has done an excellent job so far in the sports they have competed in.  The US has a rival in the Olympics again YAY!!

Rivals make competition that much more intense and great to watch.

  8. uhh US dont have training farms like the chinese.. the US athletes gets to choose what they want to be.. plus the olympics arent over. theres still more events to take place.

  9. I doubt it, because I've watched the Olympics since 1972 and it does not really matter how many gold medals you won, but rather how many total medals you have. All the young people from 3rd world countries are claiming China to be the best just because the beginning of the Olympics have sports that they excel at. China will get their butts handed to them by Great Britain, Russia, Germany, USA and Jamaica during track & field events. So what, they can have diving and gymnastics because that's where they "farm" and develop athletes by letting them live in cages, starving them and not letting them see their parents for years, just because the politburo, "party chairman" and secret police say so......

  10. But USA is second out of 204 countries...Thatz pretty good rite?
