China prevails in Yonex Australian Open GP Gold 2012 – Badminton News
China proved its supremacy over the badminton arena as their shuttlers dominated in the final round of Yonex Australian Open GP Gold in Sydney on April 8, 2012.
Chinese masters Chen Jin, Han Li and the duo Luo Ying-Luo Yu seized three crowns in the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles events respectively.
The splendid victory saga was started by the youngster Han Li who continued her success run in the final of the event. She stamped her higher ranked rival Bae Youn Joo from Korea in just two games.
The spirited Chinese shuttler, who paved her path right from the qualifying round, registered an impressive total of 21-13 and 21-14 and escorted her country to glory.
Han Li has successfully registered her presence in the arena by overpowering world class shuttlers like Sung Ji Hyun and Bae Youn Joo in the Australian Open.
Later, the duo of Luo Ying and Luo Yu doubled the joy by winning the Women’s Doubles title. They outclassed the World Number nine opponents Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin in an epic tussle which lasted for three sets and 60 minutes.
The scratch pair Luo Ying-Luo Yu stood at top of the victory stand by ending the tussle with 12-21, 21-18 and 21-17 score in their favour.
Last chapter of this splendid victory saga was even more captivating when the badminton ace Chen Jin sealed the crown with his staggering performance against Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam.
Though, he had to sweat hard for 53 minutes but he raised his hands as champion after ticking a distinctive margin of 21-11 and 21-12 in score log.
This splendid victory raised his chances for a ticket to the 2012 London Olympics as the World Number five Chen Jin is in Olympic qualification period and he desperately wants to unseat World Number four Peter Hoeg Gade to secure his spot in the mega event.
The valuable ranking points, which he has earned so far, place him ahead of the Dane and if May 3 rankings declares him the World Number four it means three of the top Singles shuttlers of China will be in the mega event.
