China prove their dominance at the BWF World Championships
China, the leading country in the world of badminton were unbeatable at the BWF World Championships, as the nation’s shuttlers clinched gold medals in all five categories at the Wembley Arena in London, England. The event was held in the second week of August,
2011.
China proved their dominance as they won the 2011 edition of this biggest tournament after the Olympic Games in scintillating fashion. The Championships were held at the famous Wembley Indoor Arena in London, a venue that has a capacity of almost 13,000
fans. On the final day of the 2011 World Championships, Chinese players proved that they are the best in the business as they thrashed all of their opponents in the finals of every category.
Despite the fact that many nations including Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Denmark, Japan and India are catching up in the sport, Chinese shuttlers still manage a considerable difference as they clinch prestigious events including the BWF World Championships
and Olympic Games. By winning all medals in the mega event, China sent a strong message to all badminton loving countries for the 2012 London Olympics, which is just 11 months away.
In the category of Men’s Singles, China’s best shuttler, Lin Dan, who is also the current Olympic champion, clinched his fourth title of the World Championships by beating the World Number One, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, in the final. It was a mouth-watering
match for the crowd as both finalists are considered as the most complete and successful shuttlers in the world of badminton.
The encounter was a wonderful three-set final, where both shuttlers put every skill they had in their possession to win the battle. Lin Dan emerged as the winner in the end with a dramatic margin of 20-22, 21-14 and 23-21.
In the Women’s Singles final, China’s Wang Yihan proved her worth against Cheng Chieh Shao of Chinese Taipei by beating her in straight-sets without facing any resistance. The Chinese played wonderful badminton and dictated the pace of the game throughout
the match. She kept the pace quite high and spared no chance for Chieh Shao to comeback in the match. The Chinese shuttler crushed the Taipei player in straight games with the margin of 21-15 and 21-10.
In the Men’s Doubles category, China’s Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng crushed Korea’s Ko Sung Hyun and Yoo Yeon Seong to bag their third title of the World Championships. The Chinese pair, who is currently World Number One, thrashed the Korean duo in straight games.
The opening game was quite tight, as the Chinese pair had to dig deep into their reserves to oust their challengers.
The second game, on the other hand, was quite easy for them as they found their momentum. Yun and Haifeng finished-off the match with the score of 24-22 and 21-16.
It was an all-China final in the Women’s Doubles category, where Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang defeated their compatriots, Zhao Yunlei and Tian Qing in straight games. They ended the battle by playing to their full potential and won the match with a score of 22-20
and 21-11.
In the Mixed Doubles final of the mega event in London, China’s Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan toppled Imogen Bankier and Chris Adcock (Scotland and England) in a straight-set match. The Chinese shuttlers showed no mercy to their rivas throughout the match and
emerged as the winners in the end, after they faced no considerable resistance from Bankier and Adcock. The final result of this two-game match was 21-15 and 21-7.
By winning all medals at the World Championships for the second consecutive year, China have proved that they are the most dominating nation in the arena of badminton.
