  1. lol.. christmas isn't celebrated in China, its an ocidental celebration and the biggest celebration for them i think its the chinese new year which is in a different date of our gregorian calender.

  2. Chinese New Year (4706), The Year of the Rat is Feb. 7, 2008.  The families get together at eat "jai" also called "monk's food", because it's made of all vegetables and no meats.  The ingredients vary from area to area but bean curd is always added to the mix.  Lots of local deserts and dishes also are shared.

The younger folks (most single unmarried children) always gets a "lee see" (money wrapped in red paper) from the older generation (mostly married ones).

FYI - Don't go to China Town in your area because all the stores will be closed on that day.

  4. A must-have food for northern Chinese is dumpling (saulty stuffing, miced pork mixed with vegatable), for southern Chinese is sweet dumpling which skin is made of sticky rice powder.

There are so many kinds of dumpling in China, but we all love them.

  5. BASICALLY the same as you get from your local takeaway.
