China rises as others fall in the German Open 2012 – Badminton news
The Chinese shuttlers once again proved their authority in badminton arena and China rose as champion of four categories in the Yonex German Open 2012, which ended on Sunday, March 4.
The Chinese shuttlers stamped their rivals in men’s singles, doubles and women’s singles, doubles categories.
The World Number two men’s singles shuttler Lin Dan and Chinese duo Wei Hong- Ye Shen claimed the crown in men’s singles and doubles event while Xuerui Li and female pair Xia Huan- Jinhua Tang bagged the honours for country in women’s singles and doubles
event.
The women’s doubles team Xia Huan- Jinhua Tang started the splendid victory saga by winning against Korean duo Kyung Eun Jung- Ha Na Kim with final figures of 23-21 and 21-13.
In the 49-minute tussle, the Chinese girls dominated their rivals in all departments of game and snatched the honour from them.
Next was the Chinese female singles player Xuerui Li to follow the success trail. She raised her country’s flag in final against the German lady Juliane Schenk.
Juliane Schenk had a golden chance to become first German female shuttler with a German Open title but Xuerui turned her rival’s plan into dust and buried her with decisive score of 21-19 and 21-16 on the board.
Both female shuttlers consumed their energies for 40 minutes to outshine their rival but the Chinese girl Xuerui Li proved herself superior to the German female shuttler.
The men’s singles final, as it was expected, belonged to ‘super’ Lin Dan who thrashed the Indonesian shuttler Simon Santoso in just 39 minutes.
The Indonesian was no comparison to maestro’s experience and brilliance and Lin Dan claimed the title with 21-11 and 21-11 score on the board.
Last but not the least, the men’s doubles team Wei Hong-Ye Shen concluded this victory saga by overpowering top seeded Korean duo Jae Sung Jung- Yong Dae Lee in a nerve-racking 65-minute fight.
The prime class badminton kept the spectators stick to their chairs and both teams earned a great deal of admiration for their premium skills.
The Chinese duo Wei Hong-Ye Shen gained the control in very first set of the match and did not lose the grip despite of second set loss as they sealed the crown with decisive score 21-19, 18-21 and 21-19 on the board.
The Chinese shuttlers now have All-England Open challenge, starting with qualifiers from tomorrow. The Chinese expedition will be exciting as top shuttlers of the world will be contesting for the glory in the oldest open of the world.
