China competed against the Argentineans on November 9th in a FIVB World Cup Women’s Volleyball tournament match. The championship is currently being staged in Japan, with various cities playing host to the national women’s teams from all across the world.
The match between the Chinese and Argentinean squads took place in Hiroshima, at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza.
The match between the two sides did not take long to end as the Chinese found themselves on the winning end of the game after three sets. The first and the second sets of the match were pretty much one sided as the Chinese were able to dominate all through
and bag each set by a comfortable margin. It was only in the third set that the Chinese got some fight from the Argentineans but the effort came in too late and the Brazilians were able to secure the third set and seal the deal on the match at the following
final set scores: 25-10, 25-18 and 25-23.
The coach of the Argentinean team, Bastit Horacio, expressed himself in the following manner at the press conference after the match reached its close: “We expected long rallies, and we’ve been focusing on serving to score against China. However we didn’t
put much pressure on them in the first or second set, but in the third we played with more control, and compared to the previous sets we were much better. Unfortunately we lost in the end, but it was a good experience for us to take on China.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Chinese squad, Yu Juemin, gave the following statement to share his views: “Frankly speaking, Argentina is not the strongest team, but looking at their previous matches I could tell we would have some difficulties. We
studied their game, and I think we played well in the first two sets. But in the third set they served and blocked well, and we had trouble defending their attack.”
The player that was able to tally the most points in the entire match was the Chinese player, Wang Yimei, who was able to score a total of 16 points. On the other hand, the player that made her presence felt on the Argentinean squad was Paula Yamila Nizetich,
who kept the pressure on the Chinese by putting up 12 points in all.
The first set of the match saw the Chinese take the lead at 12-3. After that point the Argentineans kept on trailing all the way till the Chinese had bagged the opening set of the game at 25-10. The second set saw the Argentineans improve a bit but it did
not get them the set as the Chinese bagged it at 25-18. The third set was tough but China remained victors at 25-23.
