China sweeps Argentina in a Pool E match of FIVB Girls’ World Championship
The Baskent Sports Hall played host to a Pool E match of the FIVB Girls' World Championship that took place between China and Argentina on the 16th August.
The resulting contest was pretty much one sided as the Chinese made a clean sweep over their opponents in a smothering fashion. The Argentineans could not put up an effective defence to challenge the onslaught of the Chinese significantly.
The opening set started off in a tight manner but by the time it got to its end, the Chinese were soaring high above their competitors and landed an easy win. The second set saw a bit of sparks from the Argentinean side but their effort was not strong enough
to topple the Chinese in the frame. The loss of the first two sets of the game seemed to have taken all the energy out of the Argentinean players as China made a quick job of bagging a win and sealing the deal on the match at the following final set scores:
25-17, 25-19 and 25-7.
The coach of the Chinese team, Mang Shen, shared his feelings in the following manner at the press conference after the match,“We were very well prepared as we knew that all teams in the second round would be very strong. We watched many videos to know everything
about Argentina. I’m very satisfied.”
On the other hand, the Argentinean coach, Guillermo Caceres, gave the following statements, “We knew it would be difficult to play the top eight round. Every day we can learn: today from China, tomorrow from Turkey. I ask my players to improve with every
match.”
The Chinese started the first set of the match in an assertive manner that was hard for the Argentineans to deal with from the start. Other than that, the speed of the Chinese attack was too much to handle for the Argentinean defence and they could not effectively
stop the Chinese from securing a win in the first set at 25-17.
The Argentineans stepped up their game in the second set but they had to work hard to score any points because the Chinese defence was not letting anything through. As a result, China was able to grab another win at 25-19.
The third set of the game turned out to be quite unfortunate for the Argentineans as they were hammered down by the powerful and quick attacks of the Chinese. China made a quick job of what turned out to be the final set of the game as they ploughed on towards
an east victory at 25-7.
The overall tournament record of the Chinese side shows an impressive number of four wins bagged at the expense of losing not even a single match.
