China sweeps Indonesia in Pool B match: 16th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship
A Pool B match of the 16th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship took place between China and Indonesia on September 22 in Tehran, Iran. The crowd at Azadi Hall No. 1. saw the Chinese make a clean sweep over their opponents by 3-0.
The first set of the match was tough as the Indonesian attack played an integral role in keeping the pressure on the Chinese but as the frame drew to its close, China overcame the attacking skills of Indonesia and bagged the opening
frame. Once the Chinese got into the flow, the Indonesians found it harder to keep the challenge up for the Chinese. As a result, China did not have a hard time winning the second as well as the third sets. The final set score for the match came out to be
25-22, 25-19 and 25-14.
The first set of the match saw the Indonesians step on to the courts with guns blazing and they were able to exploit the Chinese defense which enabled Indonesia to get the lead early on. The Chinese were seen struggling with their
game all through the match and kept trailing behind for the most part. However, as the set progressed, China was able to gain some footing and get a lead of two points. Once they had the lead, China did not let go of the advantage and secured the opening set
of the game at 25-22
Learning a lesson after the first set of the game, China stepped up on the defense side and improved their block to make it harder for Indonesia to score points. As a result, the first technical time out of the set came with China
taking the lead at 8-5. Indonesia did not back down and improvised its attacking tactics to make the Chinese work harder to score each point. Particularly, the Indonesian player, Veleg Dhany Kristan K, kept the Indonesians alive by making some phenomenal saves.
However, China managed to get a lead of 22-16 after which Indonesia committed an error that pushed the Chinese towards another win at 25-19. Chen Ping, the Chinese player, was most helpful in propelling the Chinese towards a win based on his flawless attacks.
The Chinese were able to improve even further in the third set and tackled the Indonesian block effectively. As the defense of the Indonesians weakened, the attack of the Chinese strengthened and they were able to take the lead
and stretch it as well. The Indonesians tried hard to stay in the game but they could not shift the momentum of the Chinese as they went on towards a win at 25-14.
