China sweeps Poland in a FIVB Women World Grand Prix – Volleyball news
China and Poland were up against each other in a FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix match on June 17, 2012. The contest took place in the Chinese city of Foshan. China was able to extend its winning streak handing out their first defeat of the tournament to
the Polish squad. China secured a win by making a clean sweep over its opponents.
The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 25-19, 25-17 and 29-27.
China was able to dominate in the first two sets of the match as the guest team did not put up much of a competition. It was only after the loss of the first two sets that the Polish managed to step up their game but the effort came in too late as the Chinese
were able to secure the third set as well.
The coach of the home team, Yu Juemin, shared his joy at the win by making the following comments, “Poland is a very powerful team. We prepared for this match well. Although Poland will not play in London, in the Olympic Games there are some strong opponents
like Poland. Today our serving and attacking are excellent. Spikers and wing Spikers have done a good job.”
On the other hand, the Polish coach, Alojzy Swiderek, expressed himself at the press conference conducted after the match by giving the following statements, “At first congratulations to China that they got the first place in this match. We are disappointed
that we did a bad job. Today we had worse attack and defence than China.”
The Polish side was able to get their hands on the lead in the opening frame at 3-0 and stuck with the advantage for some time. However, China was able to close in the gap and take over the lead by the coming of the second technical time out. After they
had the lead, they did not relinquish the advantage till China had bagged the set at 25-19.
The second set saw the Chinese take the lead early on and stick with the advantage till the end of the frame at 25-17. The Polish gave the Chinese some competition in the third set but China remained undaunted and sealed the deal at 29-27.
