China: the prevailing nation in badminton at international level
In the world of badminton, China has become a prevailing nation at international level as it is producing world-class players on a consistent basis. The country has a great badminton culture which provides maximum opportunities to all enthusiasts. China
has proved itself by grabbing numerous major titles of badminton in the opening decade of the 21st century.
Badminton is an international game which is played in almost every region of the globe. This leading indoor game is gradually pulling the attention of more and more sports’ nuts. Chinese Badminton Association was established in 1958 at Wuhan, the capital
of Hubei province. The body a non-governmental organisation which represents China in the Badminton World Federation, formerly known as the International Badminton Federation.
China has a well-organised badminton nursery from where it produces incredible shuttlers who usually dominate the international arena of badminton. China has produced legends like Yang Yang and Sun Jun who are considered as all-time best shuttlers throughout
the world. Chinese players started to dominate in international badminton from 2000.
At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Chinese shuttlers grabbed four gold medals and proved their supremacy in the world of badminton. China then started to produce a bulk of superb players and for the consecutive fourth time, Chinese players won the Sudirman Cup.
Later on, every major title was occupied by Chinese shuttlers in all categories of the game.
There are several reasons for the consistent performance of Chinese shuttlers in all international events. China has established an excellent system under which players from every area of the country are provided world class opportunities to become better
athletes. The strong and superbly integrated training system is the basic element that makes the players mentally and physically prepared to fight at international level.
Players are usually trained from the very early age of 5, 6 years and are provided with the best of facilities to transform them into the best players in the whole world. State-of-the-art training centres furnished with the latest equipment are provided
to young players. Same opportunities are also given to shuttlers living even in remote areas of the country.
Domestic tournaments have grown to be a major source of talent hunt in China. The prominent players in these national level events are selected and trained accordingly to represent the country in international badminton events. Training is provided by the
best coaches who work hard to eliminate all weaknesses and improve the quality of a player in every aspect of the game.
The major focus of the coaches remains on the physical and mental strength of the players along with the tactics and techniques employed in matches. Through such a strong system, China has truly become a dominant force in the world of badminton.
Another important aspect is that former Chinese legends of badminton actively contribute their services for the growth of youngsters. These former champions always remain a source of inspiration for them.
Currently, China is ruling the arena as it has won every title in the world of badminton. In Men’s Singles category, Chen Jin of China is the reigning World Champion and Lin Dan is the ruling Olympic Champion. Lin is following his great predecessors as he
has also clinched the World Championships’ title on three occasions.
China has won titles at Olympics Games and also at the World Championships in all other categories of the game including the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles as well.
