China win fixture at the 2011 FIVB Grand Prix Prelims – Volleyball News
The Women’s national volleyball team from China kicked off the 2011 FIVB Grand Prix with a magnificent win over Kazakhstan on Friday, August 5. The match was played in totally packed Luohe Sports Centre in the Chinese city of Luohe. The Home team of China
accumulated 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, and 25-16) and announced match victory over Kazakhstan.
Olga Drobyshevskaya of Kazakhstan was named the top scorer in the match. She contributed 13 points via 12 attack-attempts and one block. On the other hand, Chinese team was supported by Ruogi h*i, who registered 13 point for her team.
In the first set of the match, China’s Qiuyue Wei made a great impression on rival side. She supplied plenty of power to the ball and served with great precision. She was an expert hitter with perfect height and used great techniques to vary the length of
serves. Kazak players faced a lot of difficulty in digging her short-serves. Linlin Fan proved to be another big threat for Kazakhstan. She spiked the ball hard and also delivered some tricky bump-passes. Kazakhstan’s Olga and Radmila Beresneva counter attacked
but Chinese kept moving ahead. First set ended in China’s favour at 25-18.
Kazakhstan managed to break the rhythm of Chinese players in the second set. They directed the ball towards targeted areas and improved their score. Anyhow, home team grasped the game plan of opponents and came up with right strategy to put off Kazakhstan.
They attacked with See-Young and used Yunli Xu to stop Kazak score. As a result, China regained control of the game and secured second straight set in the game.
Kazakhstan’s team looked visibly exhausted in third set and made a number of mistakes. They were dragged under huge pressure, which further affected their performance. China breezed past Kazakhstan in third set with comfortable win at 25-16. The last whistle
of referee declared China as the winner of the match.
Head Coach of Chinese squad, Yu Juemin commented: "This is a new team, we just participated 16 games. This is the first FIVB game for us. Players are serious for the match, and we reached the requirements of the preparatory meeting. We had many mistakes
in the second set, and our team got training and found the problems in this game."
Kazak Skipper Korinna Ishimtseva said that it was the first international appearance for many of the players in her team. China took game away from them duo to strong team-line equipped with experience players.
Kazakhstan coach Baitureyev Bakhytzhan: "I want to repeat what our captain said, that our players are very young without much experience, and they don’t have enough confidence. Congratulations to China, they have strong team and players."
China is set to repeat the same brilliant performance in the next match against Serbia on Saturday, whereas Kazakhstan will have to cope with the tough rival USA in the second match.
