China wins the 2011 China International Women's Volleyball tournament – Volleyball update
China has just won the champions title of the 2011 China International Women's Volleyball tournament. The women’s team has accomplished the feat by handing out a defeat to Netherlands in the Final.
The win has come as a much welcome addition to the accomplishments of the Chinese women’s volleyball team as it has achieved in a nearly comprehensive win over their opponents throughout the matches played. Netherlands had to settle for the runners up position
by a decisive Chinese sweep.
The first two sets of the game were almost completely dominated by China, with the only competition coming from Netherlands in the last set of the match as the pressure mounted to make a win. However, China did not let a single set go towards Netherlands
and secured a quick win at 25-19, 25-7 and 25-21. It only took China 69 minutes to finish the final of the tournament.
After China had bagged the tournament, the captain of the team, Wei Qiuyue, made the following comments regarding the experience: "We had a good tournament, but we should be aware of the fact that the other teams were not in top shape. I think we still have
a lot to improve.”
The coach of the Netherlands team admitted to making quite a number of errors that played an important role in the loss that they suffered. The other key factor that led China towards such a spectacular win was team effort. Both the attack as well as the
defense of China was well coordinated. However, the player that stood prominent in the entire match was Fan Linlin, who earned herself the credit of scoring the highest points for her team at 15. Linlin was not the only one who kept the score board ticking
for China, Yang Junjing who is the middle blocker, also contributed by posting a total of six kills. These were accentuated by two well timed service aces for her team.
The match for the second place in the tournament will be held between Cuba and Dominican Republic. Netherlands is out of the running for the second and third place as their three consecutive losses have restricted them to fourth overall.
