Chinampas: Can you recommend a frost hardy, water tolerant, fastigiate tree climate Zone 7 please?

I would prefer a hardy equivalent to Salix Bomplandiana used to reinforce the edges of chinampas or any other recommendations.

Climate Zone 7. The main thing is that it can tie together waterlogged soils and cast minimum shade.

  1. sorry bella i dont know the climate zone system, but here is a collection of databases on my favourite plant site, plants for a future run out of cornwall. there are a couple of u.s. ones.

    if it were cool temperate i would suggest alder, willow, dogwood (an edible berries one) and coppice every year, underplanted with bilberries or other vaccinia.
