China’s Ding Junhui leading 2012 Championship League Snooker Winners’ Group on Day 1
Along with England’s Judd Trump, China’s Ding Junhui also played amazingly on the first day of the 2012 Championship League Snooker Winners’ Group and led at the end of Day 1 with the classy triumphs over the former World Snooker Championship winner, Australia’s
Neil Robertson, the 2012 Snooker Shootout winner England’s Barry Hawkins and the 2012 Haikou World Open winner, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen.
The Star of the East played in four matches on the opening day where he was able to win only three matches to hit the leading podiums of the points table. The Chinese faced Neil Robertson in his first match and claimed his first victory over the Australian
potter and defeated him with a white-wash score line of 3-0 after firing some decent small breaks.
The Chinese Sensation clinched another tremendous white-wash win over England’s Barry Hawkins by the score line of 3-0. Junhui compiled three cracking clearances of 46, 60 and 142 to hit the winning spot. Hawkins had no chance to win even a single set against
Junhui and tumbled down easily at the end.
The 24-year-old had a tussling clash against the Northern Irishman, Mark Allen. The match up finished with a close score line of 3-2 after Junhui hit the decider frame. The World Number eight took the first scrappy frame hitting a 31-point break to lead
the match 1-0. After that Allen cruised into two-frame wins by the score lines of 6-95 and 75-0 pocketing a couple of tremendous knocks of 82 and 50.
Junhui was under immense pressure after slipping 1-2 down but he did not let it trouble him and came back in the next two frames to win the match by 3-2. The Jiangsu potter managed two outstanding clearances of 102 and 96 to push Allen down in the end.
Meanwhile, the Chinese cueman was not able to perform the same way in his fourth match against the 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump. He played amazingly against the Englishman but failed to improvise accordingly and lost the match by a close
score of 2-3. Trump cleared the table in the fifth round to win the match.
