China’s Du Pengyu ousts Hsu Jen Hao in Men’s Singles second round of the Macau Open Grand Prix
China’s passionate player Du Pengyu passes the second round test as he emerged as the winner in the Men’s Singles second round against Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Jen Hao in the 2011 Macau Open Grand Prix, on Wednesday, November 30, in Macau.
Pengyu, who has elevated his world ranking by reaching at number eight in the Men’s Singles world rankings, proved his worth against the World Number 39 Jen Hao in a thrilling fight that lasted for 79 minutes. In this prolonged match, the Chinese worked
really hard to grab victory and book his seat in the next round.
In the first set of the match, the Chinese played planned badminton and remained composed to win the first set with a tight score. Jen Hao worked well in the second game and levelled the match by taking it with a comfortable difference. In the deciding game,
Pengyu remained at his best as he kept the pace of the game at the maximum level and won it with a good margin.
Right from the opening set of the match, both men put up thrilling show of attacking game and tried to dominate the pace of the game. However, the score remained tight until the ending phase of the first set when the Chinese became aggressive and won the
ending points to take the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second set of the match, the Taipei shuttler changed his strategy and played parallel game to keep his higher ranked challenger away from the net. He continued playing superb strokes and remained ahead in major part of the game. Pengyu failed to remain
positive and lost the game with a 15-21 difference.
In the final set, the Chinese accelerated his speed in rear-court area and executed powerful strokes coupled with net killings which pushed the Taipei shuttler on the back foot. Pengyu continued his roller-coaster run in the deciding game and won it with
a margin of 21-15.
Pengyu won the battle in 79 minutes with a 21-19, 15-21 and 21-15 score on the board.
