China’s h*i Xirui and Zheng Yu enter into quarter-final of Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships
China’s young female shuttlers, h*i Xirui and Zheng Yu sailed into the Women’s Singles quarter-final after beating their opponents in the round-of-16 match of the Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships, at Lucknow, India, on Thursday, July 7.
Xirui tamed Ghate Gauri of India, in straight-set fight which took only 20 minutes, whereas, Zheng Yu thrashed Le Thu Huyen of Vietnam in straight games by spending only 22 minutes in the court.
Xirui started the game in a confident and authoritative way against the local shuttler and reached at 11-4 in a flash, proving that she belongs to a higher class of shuttlers. Gauri tried to catch up the speed of the Chinese, but failed as she lost her control
over the rallies. Xirui won the first game in just 11 minutes with a 21-9 margin.
In the following game, the Chinese kept the pace of the game high and reached at 11-5 by wasting no time in the court. She maintained her dominance against the local rival and finished-off the second game in just 9 minutes with a surprising margin of 21-8.
The straight-set match ended in 20 minutes with the victory of the Chinese player by a 21-9 and 21-8 margin.
In another Women’s Singles round-of-16 match, Zheng Yu tamed Thu Huyen in straight games, without showing any mercy on her challenger. In the first game, the Chinese quickly set up a comfortable lead by playing with great technique.
Thu Huyen tried to stop the aggressive progress of her opponent, but failed to do that as Zheng was playing far better badminton. The Chinese grabbed the opening set by a margin of 21-10, in just 9 minutes.
The second set was almost identical to the first game, where the Chinese remained on the driving seat throughout the entire set. The Vietnamese tried to play better by becoming a little fast, but it was too late as the Chinese had already established a huge
lead.
Zheng finished the game in just 13 minutes by a 21-14 score on the board. The concluding result of this one-sided 22-minute straight-set match was 21-10 and 21-14.
