China’s Wang Shixian confident to win gold medal at 2012 London Olympics
World Number Two ranked shuttler, Wang Shixian from China is considered as one of the most dynamic female shuttlers in the world of badminton as she has been displaying a terrific performance for the last couple of years. She has truly proved her worth in
the Women’s Singles category.
She expressed her optimistic approach by declaring that she is hoping for gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, which is less than a year away.
The Chinese girl had bagged six major titles in the last one and half year. She won the Korea Open and Swiss Open events last year, and captured the first event of 2011 by winning BWF Super Series finals. She continued her impressive winning streak and won
the lucrative title of Malaysia Open Super Series in Kuala Lumpur.
The 21-year-old expressed that the 2012 London Olympics will be a thrilling event to watch as all top shuttlers will be there to win glory. She is quite determined to put up a great show to win the gold medal at the mega event, as she is the top bet from
China who is expected to win the Women’s Singles title at the Olympic Games.
Shixian is known for her superb technique and variations in her strokes which earn her a considerable advantage over all of her opponents. She becomes quick all of a sudden and disturbs the flow of her opponents which makes her one of the best shuttlers
in the world of badminton in the Women’s Singles category.
Her wonderful stamina, sharp movement, superb defensive skills and powerful down the line smashes have made her the best in the business throughout the world of badminton.
Wang Shixian also expressed that while playing in crucial stages at the major events like World Championships and Olympic Games where the difference of the quality is just minute, nobody can become sure about the win and anybody can emerge victorious.
Shixian also knows that maintaining a high standard performance in the presence of most talented and competent shuttlers is quite difficult, especially when the difference between shuttlers is quite minor.
At the 2011 BWF World Championships, Shixian suffered with a stunning defeat from the hands of lower ranked shuttler form Chinese Taipei. She has been struggling throughout the match and failed to find a good flow which resulted in her defeat.
It was a major upset in the Women’s Singles draw of the Championship which also hit the confidence of the Chinese, who was not playing to her full potential against the Taipei shuttler.
This loss in the Women’s Singles draw at the World Championships will certainly push Shixian to work more hard in training sessions and become stronger for the 2012 London Olympics, which will be held at the Wembley Arena in London, England.
However, Shixian is expected to deliver better results at the Olympic Games although she has a tough road towards to win the Olympic Gold as many other shuttlers from China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Denmark and India are rapidly picking their game. The
passionate Shixian is confident to make a good run at the London Olympics as she is one of the main contenders for the title.
