China’s Women Team cropped out good results in Pool A of AVC Continental Beach Volleyball Cup
The Chinese town Haiku hosted the fabulous two-day beach volleyball activity on 19-20 October, 2010. In Pool A, the Asian Continental Beach Volleyball Cup welcomed teams from Hong Kong, Korea and hosts China. The players demonstrated wonderful game and rocked
the sand with stellar performances. The home-teams in both men’s and women’s categories brought China under lime-light and always stayed on the victorious side.
The Continental Beach Volleyball Cup was Sub-Zonal qualification round for 2012 London Olympic Games. The successful teams will find their slots in the Olympic Games extravaganza. The Chinese top-seeded Zhang Xi/Xue Chen and Huang/Yue Y took the responsibility
to save country’s repute. The Zhang/Xue of China 1 opened the tournament on Tuesday, 19th October, 2010. They played three matches on the same day and captured success against competitors from Korea and Hong Kong.
Zhang Xi/Xue Chen vs. S.H. Lee/M.J. Kwak (21-7, 21-8)
The internationally renowned pair of Zhang Xi and Xue Chen didn’t fail to impress once again. The two-time gold medallist pair in the running season of SWATCH FIVB staged a prolific play in the Continental Beach Volleyball and received huge applause from
the spectators. They were challenged by Korean team in the first match.  Zhang was on serve and she threw the ball with full intensity. The commanding serves had a lot of power and created problem for the Korean defender in reception. The first set started
out on a good note for China. Both the players complimented each other and quickly traded their places during the play.
They easily built an early lead over Korea and used it for their advantage. Korea’s M.J. Kwak was keen to hit the ball in China’s court but home-side was in unique receiving position and handled the fast spikes. Their arms were stretched out widely and they
jumped on every ball. China maintained its lead and put pressure on the opponents. The good defence and fierce attack of Chinese team earned them first-set triumph at 21-7.
Zhang/Xu kicked off the second set with same style and overpowered Korean team with a variety of spikes. In addition to their attack, China had good defence strategy and they killed many shots for points. They remained on the winning course and thrashed
21-8 victory over Koreans in second set. China won the first match of the Continental Beach Volleyball against Korea 1.
Zhang/Xue vs. H.J. Lee/F.A. Lee (21-8, 21-9)
After winning the first match, China clashed with another Korean team which comprised of H.J. Lee and F.A. LEE. The Chinese pair was comfortable and they didn’t expect a great surprise from Korean team. Zhand/Xue opened the fire with the first whistle of
referee. The home-side was much more experienced than the challenger pair. Zhang/Xue produced electrifying line-shots and didn’t allow Korean players to raise their heads in game. China remained ahead with good margin of points and ultimately posted 21-8 victory
in first set. They kept on hitting the ball in gaps and paved their way to second set victory with the help of 21-9. The top-seeded Chinese ladies marched as winners in the second match of day in women’s section.
China vs. Hong Kong 2-0 (21-10, 21-11)
In third match of the day, W.F. Wong/Y.M. Wong of Hong Kong challenged Zhang/Xue. After two consecutive victories, Chinese dynamic duo was totally charged up with the sense of victory. They hit excellent shots and scored well in the match against Hong Kong’s
team. The rival side fought bravely but couldn’t put up with the heavy strike of Chinese pair. China achieved success in two straight sets. China won all three matches on the opening day of the tournament.
