The fifth seed Chinese played wonderful badminton against the local hero, Juliane. In the first part of the opening set, both ladies performed well until the interval, where Xin was leading 11-10. After the interval, the Chinese started to stretch the difference
and took a good lead of 18-14. The German shuttler remained unable to bridge the gap and lost the first game by 16-21.
The second game was also a good fight between the seeded players. The crowd supported the local with applause on every point she secured against the Chinese. However, Xin remained composed and never let the opponent dominate the game throughout the set.
The number five seed finished the second game by a decent margin of 21-17. The final score of the 41-minute match was 21-16 and 21-17.
