Question:

Chinas olympic golds at what human cost?

Every progress by China is at a tremendous human cost, weather economic or sporting.

In the US and Europe there is a sporting culture, competition, fun, extra curricular activities, something for everyone. Not so in China. The sportsmen are selected, the rest are discarded and the chosen few are drilled like robots.

The other countries cannot devise these awful methods because it is not part of their culture. The chinese culture is to win at any cost.

  1. "Every progress by China is at a tremendous human cost, weather economic or sporting."

How about changing "human cost" to "human effort", which means hard working and dedication.

Now go back to study, so you can get smart and get the facts right next time.

    Best Olympics ever!

  2. Aw come on. China has a culture of sports superstars just like the US. It isn't all kidnapping children and abusive training. Now the people who lost homes, jobs, and were forced off the streets? Thats a big cost.

  3. I don't agree with that? Neither i'm a chinese nor heve been to china. but imho, could be, it's part of their culture, they have stronger determination and the right formula. Didn't other country also select their representatives, who're then required to undergone certain training. in the process, the less capables were discarded. it's a normal selection process.

if they really have an awful methods, why only now. They should have conquered sports long ago. while u.s. were no 1 in sport, can we say that u.s. has devised awful methods to get all those golds?

be realistic, u.s. has lost the throne. period.

  4. No.....To Win at All Cost.   You have seen through the image of perfection and understand the task over a task to succeed.

Mind you, you are good to help England.

  5. I honestly  think they don't deserve  any of there metal because they have cheated on so many events in the Olympics. I think china should be striped of all there metals and be removed from the Olympics all together.

  6. That is NOT Chinese culture.

    That's the Communist's government's culture. In fact, that's stereotype.

You don't think the Chinese like sports just like Americans or Europeans? You don't think they like to stay fit, to have fun, to be good at their sport and be recognized for it?

What are the methods you speak of? Training and practicing as much as they can to make sure as athletes they perform to the best of their abilities? I'm pretty sure the United States and European countries and the rest of the world did and will continue to do the same thing.

Where's your proof, in your chain e-mails and opinion blogs? Either try to get all your facts correct before you start  ranting or re-word your question so you don't insult the largest ethnic population in the world.

  7. is this your way of justifying China dominating the US in medals.  in any country, to be an Olympic athlete one has to be drilled (coached) like a robot.  Anyways, where do you get your information from?  it doesn't sound very credible.

  8. That's the Western way of thinking when you talk about the communism. The idea is so outdated and quite absurd really. Of course the government controls almost everything but people still do get to live their lives.

  9. in which cultures are the athletes are not selected and the rest discarded?!?!!?! What the h**l you talking about? And you mentioned only about US and Europe so are you implying that the rest of the world are inferior to them?
