China’s trip to the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship Glory

Semifinal: China 56- South Korea 43
China defeated South Korea 56-43 on 24th September in a low scoring game and qualified for the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship final against Jordan. China’s Jianlian Yi played tremendously and posted a team high 17 points
and 12 rebounds.
The Korean team started well and held China 11-8 in the first quarter, but the Chinese side bounced back in the second period and reduced the Korean lead to just two points at the end of first half 19-21. Soon China took control
over the game and started their push for victory. Korea never came close to China in the last two quarters and eventually China won the game 56-43.
Wang ZhiZhi posted second team high 15 points and nine rebounds for China. Wei Liu added 11 points, four rebounds and three assists while FangYu Zhu and Yue Sun scored five points apiece for China.
Although the Korean players did well, they could not stop China in its strides. Dong-Geun Yang posted team high 17 points; four rebounds and one assist for Korea while Tae-Jong Moon scored six points and seven rebounds.
Championship Game: China70- Jordan 69
The 2011 FIBA Asia Championship final was played between Jordan and China on 25th September. The thrilling game provided enormous entertainment to the spectators in which China came out victorious 70-69 in the dying
seconds of the game.
Jordan’s Rasheim Wright and Abdallah AbuQoura disappointed with their last seconds’ missed attempts which eventually proved lethal for their team as China ran away with victory.

On the other hand, China won the 2011 Asian title but also qualified for the 2012 London Olympics with huge energy.
After ten minutes of action, China took the early lead 16-15 but Jordanian team bounced back in the very next quarter and took five points lead 31-36. China entered in the second half with huge energy and started 9-0 run. Jianlian
Yi played brilliantly and answered Jordan. He posted seven straight points. On the other hand, Jordan also never gave any loop holes to China and remained in the game at the final break 56-59.
Jianlian Yi, who scored total 25 points and 16 rebounds, gave China a 66-61 lead in the final quarter but this lead was outshined by Jordan’s Rasheim Wright, who posted five points and gave Jordan a hope.
When the scores reached at 66-67, Jordan’s two main players missed their attempts while China escaped with win at the final seconds.
Both sides played vigilantly and showed some great performances. China’s Wei Liu added 13 points and four rebounds, ZhiZhi Wang and Li Yi scored 10 points apiece for China.
Osama Daghles scored 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Zaid Abbas scored13 points and rebounds for Jordan.
