  1. it is Cho Lon (also Great Market) in the district 5 of Ho ChiMinh city

  2. There aren't any Chinatown similar to those in foreign countries, but there's an area where Chinese people live together in District 5 and some parts of District 6 and 11. Here you can find Chinese restaurants, shops and traditional temples. We call it "Chợ Lớn" (Great Market) because the center of this place is the Great Market built by a Chinese businessman.

  3. ChoLon is the name of the Chinese district of Ho Chi Minh City (the former Saigon), the largest such Chinatown district in Vietnam. ChoLon is not really the same as some Chinatowns in other countries, ChoLon Chinatown was set up by the end of 18th century when the Ming dynasty in China was overthrown.

Many Chinese faithful to the Ming ran to Vietnam for help and peace and business and were permitted by the Vietnamese Lords. Now there are almost half a million Chinese with many shops and family factories. Binh Tay market is always crowded as a wholesale market.

  4. There is. It calls Chợ Lớn. I used to live near Chợ Lớn when I was in Vietnam. We went to  Chợ Lớn to have dinner almost every day. I love their food better than Chinese food in the states. They have their own business, stores, schools, temple, recreation parks etc. It likes another China outside of mainland China. People practise Tai Chi or play Chinese chest at the park like you would see them here in Chinatown in NY or San Francisco. Some of them don't even speak Vietnamese even though they live in our country. We didn't seem to care whether they speak our language or not. However, I wish I learned Chinese back then.
