Is this a good chinchilla cage? I think it is awesome and really big, but I'm not extremely experienced with them, so can you help? http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753641 Thanks! :D

  1. Depends on if you'd be willing to replace the plastic ledges in the cage. As of now, it's exactly what it says it is, a ferret cage, not a chinchilla cage. Chinchillas chew on everything. They would chew on the plastic ramps and have them ruined in no time. The plastic would also cause problems with their digestive system. So, no. I'd say it's not a good chinchilla cage.

  3. i think it looks cool : )

  4. Im looking at it too! I think it might be good!

  5. No, that is not a good chinchilla home.

It has plastic and is very unsturdy.

Chins CANNOT have plastic ledges/ramps/ANYTHING in their cage or they could ingest it and get a blockage.

    Some good cages are at

  6. I have the same model cage.

It's actually a really good cage for a chinchilla. A lot of ferret cages are great for chins.

The plastic shouldn't be a problem. It just depends on how much your chin chews. My kids have plastic in their cages that they never chew on. Besides, hard plastic is alright to have in the cage.

I don't really see anything wrong with it.

I would hence forth and buy it! Mine is just fine.

But you will sometime need to add more ledges for your chint o jump on.

    Hope this helps!

(Don't let people talk you outta buying something that works.)
