Chinchilla V.Conure. is that such a good idea?

Ok I really want a chinchilla but I'm woried that itz not a good idea because I have a green cheeked conure named paulie will he get depressed?

  1. He shouldn't! Although I would keep them in separate rooms, only because chinchillas are nocturnal and spend the night making noise. Birds need their 12 hrs of beauty sleep ;-)

    The bird may be curious of the chin and may want to play with him. Or he could become slightly jealous and want more of your attention. (my budgie was jealous of the new Guinea pig, but she soon learned that he was O.K.)

    I wouldn't worry about the bird becoming unhappy. He'll be just fine.


  2. I dont see where getting a chinchilla would make your Conure depressed. You just have to continue to give the conure as much attention as you can. I personally live with a blue-crowned conure, an african grey and two siamese cats and the only problem I have is keeping the grey from chasing my cats. (one of his favorite pasttimes)

    The only thing to worry about perhaps is the dust the two of them will create in your house. Dander from the bird and dust kicked up by the chinchilla from its dust baths, lol.
