  1. A friend's car with air conditioning would be ideal. Temperatures over 80 will kill a chinchilla. Not only that, but drastic temperature changes will also kill them. A cooling pad would only be chewed on, either killing it or making the animal extremely sick.

  2. Chinchillas are desert dwelling animals anyways but they are nocturnal, so they will be fine for an hour in a warm car, if you are worried i would roll the windows down and place a towel over the cage in your car, this should keep the heat down significantly.

If you are very worried you can always wrap the cage in aluminum foil which is like them hiding under a rock in the shade :)

Chinchillas are my favorite btw, absolutely adorable

  3. Well if a friend has an a/c ed car then ask to borrow theirs and think about temperature is cool or hot and stuff like that.

  4. I would try to find a car with air conditioning or find a time of day that is cooler to travel. Frozen water bottles wrapped in fleece to prevent chewing can help but it won't be the best thing.
