  1. They are very easy to care for and pretty cheap to maintain I had one for like 9 years and he was so cool! They are great pets I'd go for it. Now they even have colored ones that are genetically engineered to have colored furs! Good luck!

  2. Yes, they may be cheap to maintain, but boyyy are they expensive. I think they require vaccinations?

  3. They do make good pets, but they're a lot of work and can be expensive. They can live anywhere from 10 to 20 years. So are you going to want this chinchilla a decade from now? Chinchillas are also nocturnal, so it will make some noise at night. They also, in general, don't like to be held, so if you're looking for a cuddly animal, you'll want to consider something else. All chinchillas have different personalities, so they will all have different likes and dislikes, including when it comes to human contact.  Make sure you have a vet around that can take care of exotic animals like chinchillas. Just a few years ago we had to take one of my boys to the vet because he had a malocclusion in his teeth. To fix that came with a hefty price tag of around $150. They are not cuddly pets, and they don't really like to be held or petted. They chew on EVERYTHING. They also require nightly runs in a chinchilla proof room. They also need a constant temperature, since constant change in temperature will kill them. Temperatures over 80 can kill them easily, and it's best to keep them somewhere where it's about 70 degrees. When getting a chinchilla you need to consider getting two. They are social animals living in groups of up to 50 animals. A single chinchilla can become lonely quite easily and this can lead to a number of health problems. Please do not buy a chinchilla from a pet store, these animals come from mills and you would only be supporting the horrors that go on there. At pet stores they generally cost about $150 per animals. This is way too much for a chinchilla. Please consider adoption first. There are so many unwanted chinchillas out there who desperately need homes. Adoption for an already bonded pair runs about $130, with single adoption at about $65 for a single animal.
