Chinchillas and asthmatics?

Question

I want chinchilla so much and I thought it all out. I would keep him in the garage and everthing. but then I remembered my brother had asthma. Can I keep a chinchilla with an ashmatic? I wanted to know if this will set him off or what with the dust bathes and all that fur. HELP!!!

My friend who has asthma has 2 chinchillas and she does fine.

Also the garage isn't a good place for a chinchilla...you should keep it inside. Preferably in a place where if he's mainly yours, he'll get to see you his main owner often but not have to deal with people he doesn't know so well.

Most people that I know and including myself have allergies and/or respiratory problems that own chinchilla's. I just wear a mask when the chins are dusting or I'm distributing hay and don't take it off until I leave the room they are in. It made a huge difference in my being able to be around them, you can also use an air purifier in the room to help keep the dust out of the air.
