The Nigerian international is eager to return to first team action after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The Schalke striker injured his knee in December last year while training and was ruled out for the rest of the season. The player has now started light training and is confident of achieving full fitness before the start of the
new season.
Obasi expressed his delight on returning to training and admitted that it is a great feeling to be working with the team again after a long time. The player admitted that he is making steady progress and will certainly reach his
fitness in the next few weeks.
The attacker stated that the club doctors and medical staff are working with him in training to make sure he returns to the proceedings in-time for the new season.
“I'm glad to back out on the pitch again with the boys. It's a very nice feeling. I'm making good progress but I'm not back to my full performance level yet so I'm working hard with our rehab and athletic trainers to find my form
again as quickly as possible,” the second striker was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 26-year-old stressed that he will not rush himself back unless he is certain about his fitness. The player admitted that rushing things may cause him more problems in the future, so he wants to be satisfied with his fitness.
“I don't want to rush things so I'm not setting myself any specific targets for a return to Bundesliga action. I want to be fully fit when I return so I can show the fans what I can do. At the moment I can take part in some of
the sessions, I just can't do everything yet,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
