Chinese Champ to strike the fifth victory of the new season in the Romforddogs.Com Standard at Romford
The Romforddogs.Com Standard is to be staged at Romford over 400 metres on Friday, 9th March. The lineup of six will contest for the £175 prize money.
The field of six for tonight comprises of On The Spot, Out In Chil, Chinese Champ, Tolpuddle Steve, Trevi You Go and Drumcrow Bond.
Among the lineup, the most accomplished hound is Chinese Champ, Droopys Scolari’s two-year-old black son out of b***h Rani, as he has already raced seven times during the new season. Out of those races, he won four times and was placed once. The remaining
outings had him finishing sixth and fourth.
Chinese Champ’s debut victory was in a Grade A5 515 metres Flat at Hove on 22nd January. He was successful in clocking the track distance in 30.39 seconds while leading by ¾ of a length. The 2/1 favourite of the race, Black Machine, ended the
race second and was soon followed by Guinness Pete.
During his third attempt, Chinese Champ was sent as a 5/2 joint favourite and won the Grade A4 515 metres Flat at Hove on 27th January after racing through the track in 30.79 seconds.
Missing the victory by a shoulder’s margin was the other joint favourite of the race, Droopys Sheraton.
On 31st January, Chinese Champ bumped into a second position but by the time of his fifth start in a Grade A3 515 metres Flat on 15th February at Hove, he had come back into form and bagged his third victory by clocking the distance
in 30.46 seconds.
Lemon Olive finished the closest to the winner and settling third was Fabulous Student. The 6/4 favourite of the race, Blakes My Boy was the last hound to leave the track.
After an unfortunate fourth position in the 24th February’s race, Chinese Champ scored his fourth win of the new season in the Coral Hove Maiden – Dup on 4th March at Hove over 515 metres. Chinese Champ reached the other end of the
wire in 30.67 seconds.
The winner was joined very soon by the 7/4 favourite of the race, Big Heat.
Chinese Champ has not been entered as a favourite since a very long time and tonight just might be his turn to take away the title along with being the favourite of the race.
