  1. I was eating breakfast at a local sitdown.  The waitress was talking to the couple just behind me showing off the new grandchild in the family.  I fully turned around, held up my hand and still waited for several minutes before she finished the conversation and waited on ME.

    Don't do that.

  2. I think you are asking how to be a better waiter/server, and my suggestions would be:

Be friendly, smile but not over-bearing

Be useful, if you know there are several exceptional dishes, recommend them

Be attentive, be sure the water glass and tea pot are kept full

Be flirtatious, especially when it is a table full of older women - this will bring you much tips $$$ (don't do this if it is a couple)

    Good Luck

  3. Watch the drink glasses and always be "Johnny on the Spot" with refills when they are getting low.  Offer chop sticks when you first greet customers.  Some like to think they can use them well and appreciate the offer.  Be sure to leave the grumps alone.

  4. Just always dress clean and neatly, always be pleasant and attentive if a patron needs anything.  Bring forks if someone needs them.  There are never any forks at the table and sometimes it's hard to get a waiter's attention or they forget my request.  I can't use a chopstick efficiently.

Keep your hands away from your face.  If you have a cold, don't come to work.

  5. tips for what? I am not sure what you are asking
