Chinese Sun Yu wins the girl’s singles crown at 2011 Badminton Asia Junior Championships
China’s young female shuttler, Sun Yu has grabbed the Girl’s Singles crown after taming her team-mate Shen Yaying in the final battle of the 2011 Badminton Asia Junior Championships, in India, on Saturday, July 9.
Sun Yu wasted no time in beating her opponent in a straight-set match, which ended in just 27 minutes. Yaying completely failed to put up a good show against her compatriot and lost the match without any considerable fight.
In the first set of this all China final, Sun controlled the pace of the game from the starting points and maintained a superb lead throughout the whole match. She was playing with great precision against her shaky opponent, who was playing erroneous strokes.
Until the end of the opening half of the set, Sun was leading with a dominant margin of 11-4.
After the break, Sun maintained the difference by putting more speed into the rallies to keep her opponent under pressure. Her strategy worked really well and she finished up the first set in just 12 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-8.
In the second game, Yaying tried to match the level of her opponent by playing aggressive badminton, however, she failed to stop the winning run of Sun, who was playing a really well planned game. Sun targeted the side lines of the court by executing superb
smashes coupled with strong straight-to-the-body pushes.
Yaying failed to play a better game against the spirited Sun, who left no room for her opponent to score points. Sun remained in lead from the start of the set and continued playing attacking badminton in the entire set. She made no mistakes in the second
game as she was playing at her best and displayed all of her skills in the title match.
Sun ended up the second game in an impressive way, defeating her opponent in just 27 minutes, with an eight-point difference of 21-13. The Girl’s Singles final ended in just 27 minutes, with the victory of Sun Yu, by the score of 21-8 and 21-13.
