Chinese Women's Doubles players advance to the finals of the World Championships – Badminton News
Chinese duos have made it to the finals of the Women's Doubles category, at the GAC GROUP 2011 World Table Tennis Championships, held on May 14. The matches for the semi-finals were played at the Ahoy Arena Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The first semi-final was competed amongst Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia and the duo of Kim Kyung Ah and Park Mi Young from Korea. The Chinese duo did not give a single chance to the Koreans and it was a straight victory for their side. The match score was
12-10, 11-4, 11-6 and 13-11.
With defeat of the Korean duo, the first pair to reach the semi-final was from China, following the other pair from China Ding Ning and Guo Yan.
In the quarter-finals, Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia won over their compatriots Yalan Feng and Mu Zi. The match remained levelled until the sixth game but Guo and Li won the decider set of the encounter. The final score was 7-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6,
11-7.
Korean duo of Kim Kyung Ah and Park Mi Young won over Kim Hye Song and Kim Jong from Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The match remained in the favour of Kim Kyung Ah and Park Mi Young and they marked a straight victory against their opponents
with a match score of 8-11, 9-11, 9-11 and 7-11.
The second semi-final was played between the Chinese duo of Ding Ning and Guo Yan against Jiang Huajun and Tie Yana from Hong Kong. The Hong Kong duo was the only hope to prevent the final of the Women's singles, to be an all-Chinese affair.
The Chinese sealed the match with a straight win and the hopes of spectators to see the Chinese to compete against players from any other country ended with the defeat of the Jiang Huajun and Tie Yana. The final score of the match was 3-11, 3-11, 11-13
and 10-12.
An all-Chinese final will be seen at the GAC GROUP 2011 World Table Tennis Championships, which is sure to attract a high number of fans of the sport.
