where i live there's a bit of chinks. their language didn't become a primary language because they learned english. so what makes mexicans so special to where they don't have to learn english and their language is primary. its to where its hard for some people (americans) to get a job because they're not bilingual (spanish). why mexicans can't learn english?

  1. Two reasons:  They are not motivated to do so because there are communities and cities that operate primarily in Spanish.  Also, our government does not require them to do so.  They take the citizenship oath in Spanish.  They can take a Spansih Driver's License Exam.  The can take the GED in Spanish.    It goes on and on.   So fault the government.    I am against illegal immigration, but I do not fault them for what we are allowing them to do.

  2. Yanks should learn english themselves. What they speak is a dialect from english

Why can't THEY learn english ?

  3. it's not only Mexican people that speak Spanish... it's also people from Central and South America, Spain, Puerto Rico(which happens to be a U.S. territory and their first language is Spanish, they are not required to learn English)... and not every Spanish speaking person doesn't speak English, most speak it but choose to keep their first language too and most use it in everyday life, at home and in public... and so what!!!  what do you care if that person isn't speaking to you... stop being a hater and being nozy...

and as for Americans having a hard time getting a job because they are not bi-lingual that is a bunch of CR**...  if a person is passed over for another it's because the other person is more qualified for that job... that it happens to be a hispanic person shouldn't make people mad... I say go back to school and learn a new language or better skills...

  4. A lot of that has to do with the fact that many businesses and agencies have COSEN to accommodate the spanish language. People tend to learn only what the actually NEED to learn. If there are enough businesses and government agencies that are willing to accommodate their language, there is no need to learn a new one.

  5. Technically, it would make more sense for you to learn Spanish than for them to learn English. Spanish is a widely spoken language, prevalent in an entire subcontinent as well as in multiple scattered countries in Europe. Spanish is becoming (if it isn't already) one of the world's most commonly used languages. Learn it and stop complaining.
