  1. Chinese was more agricultural than industrial compared to Russia. Mao felt that Krushchev was not Marxist-Leninist enough. In 1960 Soviets denounced China and called Mao, a nationalist, an adventurist, and a deviationist. China also had the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution.

    Russia moved back and forth from totalitarian dictatorship to bureaucratic self-interest types. Russia later had Perestroika and Glasnost.

    Due to new political landscape of the world, Russia and China tightened relations in order to counter American power. In 1993, the two nations signed a treaty that formally demarcated the border and officially ended all outstanding disputes.
