Chinese cuisine dim sum question?

when you buy dim sum at a chinese restaurant, do you have to take out the covering or a the little bag that is holding it, or do you eat it

  1. Don't understand what you mean by the "little bag" holding it. Steamed dumplings served at a Dim Sum restaurant are made to be eaten in their entirety.

  4. Hard to answer. Dim sum isn't a specific type of food, it's an entire category of things. I've never had to unwrap anything at a dim sum restaurant, and I've lived in China for 6 years.

  6. I agree with the others. What kind of dim sum are you talking about? Dim sum is actually a food category in itself, comprising of many different dishes.

  7. Not sure what you mean by the covering or little bag but alot of dim sum are noodles wrapped around pork or other fillings and you eat the whole thing.
