  1. It's is definitely the MSG seasoning that is used in almost all Chinese food. Lots of people have reactions to it, primarily headaches.

  2. I used to get blinding headaches like this after Chinese too. I think it's either something has been cooked in rancid fat, or it's pork fat. Pork gives me the same headache, but oddly ham and bacon don't. Chips (fries if you're American) have the same effect sometimes, which I put down to the state of the fat.

  3. find a chinese restaurant that doesn't use Mono Sodium glutinate.

really good chinese restaurants don't use it, you can just ask them whether they use it or not.

  4. probably the restaurants arent preparing the food very well.  Plus american Chinese uses way too much msg

  5. it also usally gives me a stomacache due to the greasiness

  6. Most likely the MSG.

  7. Ask your local restaurant inspector.

..and they'll tell you the reasons why and those behind them closing down more Chinese places than any other

  8. A lot of the people here suggested MSG, most Japanese foods contain MSG as well, do you have the same problem with Japanese foods?

I think the quality of the food of the Chinese restaurant you go to is poor.

  9. i think it's because of msg .. chinese foods in western countries normally are stir fried , greasy and they use many msg...

  10. I usually get Ill on it when they have re-heated the food rather than cooked it from fresh.

  11. You're probably allergic to monosodium glutamate

  12. Maybe it's from all the grease that's in it.

  13. that is caused from an additive called msg (monsodium glutanate) sometimes it causes diarrohea also next time ask for no msg and see if there is a difference

  14. Chinese food often contains high amounts of MSG (mono-sodium glutamate) and quite a large number of people are finding that this doesn't agree with them. Myself included.

  15. MSG a spice commonly used in chinese food . you probaly  have and allergy to it or are extremely sensitive to it

  16. You are definitely allergic to monosodium glutamate which is present in most Chinese food as a flavour enhancer and is totally unnecessary.  Watch out for it in the labels of Chinese cooking sauces - it might come as MSG.

I make my own Chinese dishes from fresh ingredients and spices.

That way I can eat it without a problem.

  17. Too many additives in the sauces etc. I occasionally get it, but the worst reaction is itching then you know you've eaten the wrong thing.
